This course is designed for members of the Government Social Research (GSR) profession who are preparing for promotion to Senior Research Officer (SRO) or Principal Research Officer (PRO). It is particularly suited to candidates who are preparing for GSR assessment centres, interviews and promotion boards.

Designed specifically for the GSR profession, this practical one-day course helps participants prepare for the assessment methods used during GSR promotion processes. Participants will explore the requirements of promotion assessments, including interviews, oral briefings and presentation exercises, and develop strategies for demonstrating their skills, experience and professional impact effectively. The course provides opportunities to practise assessment exercises, receive individual feedback and refine techniques for communicating confidently and persuasively in a promotion setting.

The programme is delivered through tutor-led guidance, practical exercises, mock assessment activities and personalised feedback. With a maximum of four participants per tutor, the course provides extensive opportunities for individual coaching and practice using realistic GSR assessment scenarios.
