Overview
This course is designed for analysts and other professionals who are new to RStudio and want to develop the skills needed to carry out quantitative analysis using R. It is suitable for participants with little or no prior experience of RStudio or the R programming language.
No previous knowledge of R or coding is required, although a basic understanding of quantitative data analysis would be beneficial.
RStudio provides a user-friendly interface for working with the powerful R statistical programming language. This introductory course provides a practical foundation in using RStudio for data analysis, introducing participants to the R environment, basic coding principles and essential data management techniques.
Participants will learn how to import, tidy and transform data, use R functions and packages, and apply practical techniques that can be used immediately in their own analytical work.
Resources will be provided to support continued learning and problem-solving.
The course is delivered through tutor-led demonstrations and practical, hands-on exercises, giving participants the opportunity to write and run R code and apply their learning using realistic examples.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to
- Navigate the RStudio environment to support quantitative data analysis.
- Write and run basic R code to perform analytical tasks.
- Import, tidy and transform datasets using RStudio.
- Apply R functions and packages to complete common data analysis tasks.
- Use R documentation and help resources to troubleshoot problems and continue developing coding skills.
