Coaching Skills for Managers

Overview

This highly practical online course introduces participants to the core principles and skills of effective workplace coaching.

Participants will explore when coaching is appropriate, how to structure effective coaching conversations and how to build trust, ask powerful questions and manage emotions during a coaching intervention.

The course is delivered by an experienced executive coach and includes opportunities to practise coaching skills, receive personalised feedback and develop an action plan for making coaching an integral part of everyday management practice.

Places are restricted to a maximum of six participants to allow sufficient time for individual practice and feedback.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • understand what coaching is and when it is appropriate to use;
  • recognise the benefits of coaching for the employee, manager and team;
  • be familiar with the GROW coaching model;
  • understand the key skills and behaviours of an effective coach;
  • know how to build trust and create open coaching conversations;
  • identify powerful questions to use during coaching sessions;
  • understand how to manage emotions and challenging moments;
  • have practised their coaching skills with other participants;
  • have received feedback from peers and the course facilitator; and
  • have developed an action plan for applying coaching within their management role.


Who Should Attend?

The course is suitable for managers, team leaders and aspiring managers who want to develop a more confident and effective coaching approach.

No previous coaching experience is required.
