Overview
This course is designed for members of the Government Analytical Service who need to communicate complex analysis, technical information and evidence to non-specialist audiences. It is particularly suited to analysts who prepare written briefings, submissions, reports or advice for Ministers, senior managers, policymakers and other decision-makers.
This practical two-day course develops the skills needed to communicate technical and complex information clearly, concisely and persuasively. Participants will explore techniques for simplifying complex ideas without compromising accuracy, structuring written communication to support decision-making, and adapting their writing style for different audiences. The course focuses on producing clear, evidence-based written outputs that enable Ministers, senior leaders and policymakers to understand key messages quickly and act with confidence.
Learning is reinforced through practical writing exercises, individual feedback and tutor guidance. The course provides personalised coaching and opportunities to refine written communication using realistic government scenarios.
