Overview

This course is designed for analysts who provide advice, insight or analytical support to internal stakeholders and customers. It is suitable for those who want to strengthen their consultancy skills and build more effective working relationships across government.

No formal consultancy experience is required, although participants will benefit from experience of working with internal customers or stakeholders.

This one-day course explores the core skills and behaviours needed to operate as an effective internal consultant. Participants will examine how to build trust and credibility, establish productive stakeholder relationships, diagnose customer needs, and manage challenging conversations with confidence. The course also considers how to develop practical, evidence-based solutions that meet stakeholder requirements while adding value to the organisation.

The workshop is delivered through a highly interactive blend of facilitator input, discussions, practical exercises and government-based case studies, enabling participants to apply consultancy techniques to realistic workplace scenarios.
