Power BI for Government Analysts – Level 2

Overview

This practical two-day course is designed for government analysts who are already using Power BI Desktop and want to develop more advanced skills in data analysis, modelling and reporting.

Building on the foundations covered at Level 1, the course explores the wider Power BI analytical process in greater depth. Participants will develop more sophisticated approaches to preparing and transforming data in Power Query, undertake a deeper exploration of DAX formulas, and create more advanced and engaging report and dashboard visualisations.

Using realistic analytical examples, participants will learn how to move beyond basic reporting to build more comprehensive, flexible and insightful Power BI solutions. The course places particular emphasis on developing the analytical capabilities of Power BI and using them to explore data, identify patterns and communicate findings effectively.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply a more advanced and integrated approach to the Power BI analytics process

  • Use Power Query more effectively to prepare, clean and transform complex datasets

  • Develop more sophisticated data models to support analytical reporting
