Introduction to Quant Analysis Using ‘R’

Power BI for Government Analysts – Level 1

Overview

This practical two-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to Power BI, equipping government analysts with the core skills needed to connect, transform, analyse and present data effectively.

The course takes a balanced look at the four main components of Power BI Desktop: Report view, Data view, Model view and the Power Query Editor. Participants will learn how to bring together data from a range of sources, clean and transform it, build effective data models and create clear, interactive reports and dashboards.

The course also introduces the Power BI Service, enabling participants to understand how reports can be published, shared and accessed online.

Alongside report design and data visualisation, participants will develop an understanding of the formulas that underpin more advanced Power BI work, including M functions in Power Query and DAX functions in Power BI Desktop. The course is designed to give government analysts a strong foundation for using Power BI to explore data, communicate analytical findings and create dynamic reporting tools.
