Courses for Communication Skills

Analytical Oral Briefings and Presentations

Overview

This course is designed for members of the Government Analytical Service who need to communicate complex analysis and evidence through presentations, briefings and meetings. It is particularly suited to analysts who present findings to Ministers, senior leaders, policymakers and other non-specialist audiences.

This practical course develops the skills needed to deliver clear, concise and influential oral briefings and presentations. Participants will explore techniques for simplifying complex analytical information, structuring presentations for maximum impact, and communicating with confidence and credibility. The course also examines how to respond effectively to questions and objections, adapt communication to different audiences, and develop a personal style that enhances professional presence when presenting analytical evidence.

Learning is reinforced through practical presentation exercises, tutor feedback and individual coaching. With a maximum of six participants, the course provides extensive opportunities to practise new techniques and receive personalised feedback in a supportive learning environment.
